University of Arkansas Move-Out Guide

Residence Hall Move-Out Rules
The 24-hour rule
Students must move out within 24 hours of their last final exam. There is also a final deadline for everyone; in spring 2026 it was Friday, May 8 at 5 p.m.
Sign up for a checkout time
Students choose a departure appointment in the Housing Portal. In spring 2026, sign-up opened on April 21. Leaving without checking out properly carried a $150 charge, and not signing up for an appointment carried a $45 charge.
Express Check Out
Students can clean the room, return keys at the front desk and skip the in-person inspection. University Housing notes that choosing it waives the right to appeal charges.
30 minutes to load
A temporary permit from the front desk allows parking in a marked space in the nearest residential lot for up to 30 minutes.
No trailers or large box trucks
University Housing says large box trucks and trailers are not permitted in residential lots during move-out.
Leave the room as you found it
Clean the room, return a lofted bed to the set height, leave Housing furniture in place, and take trash to the outdoor dumpsters. Unreturned keys are billed as a lock change.
Where Does Everything Go for the Summer?
The University Housing handbook is clear: all personal belongings must be removed at the end of spring semester, and University Housing does not provide storage space.
That leaves three options: drive it home, rent a storage unit and haul it yourself, or have it picked up, stored and delivered back at move-in.
